La Grave

if you want to ski La Grave from luxury ski accommodation – look no further!

La Grave is Europe’s mecca for freeride skiing and is linked to Les Deux Alpes by ski-tow on the back of a snowcat. La Grave is a one-off: it is unpisted, has no groomed runs, no snow cannons, no ski patrol and no formal avalanche control. It is “ski sauvage” at its finest, and is best visited with an experienced guide. Carrying a shovel, avalanche receiver and probe is essential.

It offers experienced skiers some of the most exciting and challenging lift-served terrain in the world, with gaping crevasses, steep couloirs and open bowls. The vertical drop totals 2150 metres (7054 feet). It is also a breathtakingly beautiful area, dominated by the jutting peaks of La Meije which reaches 3982m (13,067 feet).

We are happy to recommend suitable guides for our more adventurous guests up for this challenge!

In summer La Grave offers some beautiful walks, and white water rafting is also possible in the river below the village. For cyclists, La Grave offers a picturesque place to stop for a coffee or a bite to eat before continuing on to the Col du Lautaret and the Col du Galibier. And of course, if you are looking for accommodation for cycling Galibier, we offer the perfect base!
